ben gordon and chris bosh

$60m for 6 years is not over-paying for ben gordon. i was never a huge ben gordon fan, but he is a great compliment to what we have and a top 3 sixth man in the league.

if we lock him up at that price, we get him and luol for about $130 mil (just more than the magic are paying for rashard lewis). i'll take gordon and deng 10 times out of 10 over rashard.

we would have some great pieces in place ...

1 - derrick rose
2 - ?
3 - luol
4 - ty thomas
5 - ?

with only a little work (and perhaps a lot of money) needed to be a legit title contender.

gordon is a great compliment to rose. he can nail 3s, so he'll be great as the wing player in a pick and roll offense, and great as a trailer when the bulls try to play uptempo (those are the supposed plans of VDN).

to round out that core of players, i think we have to look to the FA class of 2010 (along with the rest of the league) ...

my vote would be to throw coin at c-bosh. the dood looks like a velocaraptor, but can definitely play. we'd have big bodies to play around him (noah and aaron gray), and we'd have a top 5 player at 2 positions (pg and center), a top 10 at small forward, and a top 3 at sixth man.

random ....

oops, gordon to take qo?

much in the way that tiger may have (unfortunately) lost the player of the year award because of his injury, the sports guy has lost his claim as my favorite writer on espn. check out henry abbott's truehoop, which is updated daily. i'll be linking to him frequently, as he blogs about local nba news from each city ... http://myespn.go.com/nba/truehoop

Jim- I like your work. You think the Bulls will have the cap space to throw 20 mil a year at Bosh?

the Rashard Lewis example has another connection to Ben Gordon. The Magic horribly overpaid for Lewis who is pretty much a 1 dimensional player (at best 1.5 dimensions)...which is what I think we'd be doing with Gordon (granted we're not throwing $100+ million at him but still...)

Watch any game in the past 3 seasons against teams with big, physical guards (ex. Detroit)...he picks up 2-3 quick fouls and is useless for the rest of the game.
