I am tired of hearing about how "Player X needs to work on his long-range jumper - he only shoots 35% from 3PT." Shooting 35% (or even 33% from deep is MUCH BETTER than most people realize.
Imagine a player who shoots 49% from the field and 34% from 3 (note: these are the numbers of a "decent" player who is not known for his J). You would say the player is not a great outside shooter ... but consider the numbers over 100 possessions:
100 2PT shots at 49% = 98pts.
100 3PT shots at 34% = 102pts.
So having that player bomb up 3s all night seems like a pretty great game plan.
