Bull Bear Sock (oh my!)

Somebody in OKC thinks D-Rose has got it locked up -

Rose ROY favorite
Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose is expected to be named Rookie of the Year based on a sampling of ballots. The Oklahoman has compiled votes from 25 of 123 sportswriters and broadcasters who have ballots. That’s only 20 percent of the votes, but Rose was named No. 1 on all 25 ballots.

Bulls playing well lately, but Bobcats are tough -
The Bulls (39-40) enter Saturday tied with Detroit for seventh in the Eastern Conference, but are one game behind sixth-place Philadelphia and two games back of Miami in fifth.

A 13-1 home mark since Feb. 20 and a 10-3 overall record since March 14 paved their return to the postseason. In the conclusion of a four-game homestand, Chicago is searching for a season high-tying seventh straight home win and fourth overall victory in a row.

The Bulls, though, have dropped their last three to the Bobcats, who are making their first appearance at the United Center this season. Charlotte (35-45) won 110-101 in overtime Dec. 16 and 96-80 on March 3, holding Chicago to its fourth-lowest point total this season.

Best/worst NLF off-season moves

The Dumbest

1. The Denver Broncos trade quarterback Jay Cutler to the Chicago Bears: I realize the Bears gave up a ton to get their hands on Cutler. But let's not forget that he led the league's second-ranked offense despite operating with a running game that saw eight different backs land on injured reserve. The last time I checked, NFL teams have a hard time finding Pro Bowl quarterbacks. Even with Kyle Orton and some high draft picks now in the fold, new Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels is about to learn how tough it is to win without a big-time player at that position.

Crede helped Twins pound Sox -
With Crede hitting a home run in his first Chicago at-bat as a visitor, the Twins ransacked the Sox, who have lost three straight games against division opponents, 12-5.

"I wasn't trying to get back [at the Sox] or anything," Crede said. "It's good to get a hit any time to help your team win."

Crede's homer, which led off the second inning, landed in the Sox bullpen and was retrieved as a keepsake for one of the heroes of the 2005 World Series. He was given a standing ovation before the at-bat but was booed as he rounded third base.

"I expected that," he said. "A lot of [fans] said that would be the last time they [cheer]."

Our bullpen didn't really help the cause -

Contreras took the loss, but the worst performance came from the bullpen, with three Sox relievers giving up seven runs in the seventh, starting with a Justin Morneau homer off Clayton Richard and not ending until 11 more Twins batted and six more runs scored. Richard, Mike MacDougal and D.J. Carrasco all were roughed up.

''That's the first time that's happened to the bullpen,'' Guillen said. ''Hopefully, it doesn't happen often this season.''

(See specifics on the bullpen below).
